Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21
These words of Jesus, spoken in a post resurrection encounter with his disciples, are defining words for the whole Christian movement – we are all sent people. Here in the East Midlands we believe that it should be one of our priorities to recapture this vision.
Baptists have, throughout their 400-year history, gone to new places or to groups of people who are unaware of the Good News of Jesus and pioneered new communities centred on the presence of God. This is core to the character of God and his purposes. He has always called people to go and share his truth and presence with those unaware of his love, Genesis 17:3-8.
As the Father sent me, so I send you! Sent people; this is who we are, and often pioneering work is what we do!
