EMBA Directors


The EMBA Directors (Association Trustees) exercise strategic oversight of the vision, values and resources of the Association, mindful of their collective desire for Kingdom growth and their responsibility for good governance.  Together with the Team Leader, they also offer oversight for the strategy and work of the Regional Staff Team.

Revd David Harvey – Moderator of Directors

David was appointed Moderator of the EMBA Directors in July 2015 and is a member of the BU Council.  He was ordained in October 1982, serving as part of a team ministry at Wirksworth Baptist Church for 12 years.  David’s had many additional years of church ministry including leadership roles of moderator, secretary and treasurer.  He has strategic leadership experience at Director level in both public and private sector settings.  David is Elder and church treasurer at Belper Baptist Church.

 

Revd Mark Clay – EMBA Regional Team Leader 

Before being appointed as the EMBA Team Leader in 2016, Mark served for 23 years as Senior Pastor at Whetstone Baptist Church in Leicester. He is married to Karen, has two grown up children and a growing number of grandchildren who he loves to spoil whenever he gets the chance! Mark is a lifelong Leeds United supporter, but his main passion is to see people come into a living relationship with Jesus Christ and to see churches grow and flourish.  He enjoys cooking, eating out and holidays in sunny places!

 

Mr Tim Jackson – EMBA Treasurer  

Following a successful career in finance, God called Tim out of that to set up a debt advice centre in 2013.  The vision developed with a food bank and belonging group for those with addiction issues. He is a Trustee of Community Money Advice and works part time for a public company.  Since 2015 he has been Treasurer of EMBA & EMBTC and is Moderator of the Baptist Pension Scheme Employers Group.  He is a member of Rothley Baptist Church.

 

Mrs Becky Nicholls - EMBA Company Secretary

Becky grew up in Lancashire, moving to Nottingham after completing a psychology degree at York University.  She is married to Matt and they have two primary-aged children. 

At church, Becky is part of the children’s ministry team; co-ordinator of the 3-7s ministry and a leader within the Holiday Club Team.  She is also part of the leadership team providing oversight of the main service.  Becky enjoys baking, holidays and quality time spent with her family.  

 

Revd John Brewster

John has been the Senior Minister at The Well Retford Baptist since 1988.  Together with his co-leader wife, Margaret, they have moved the church from a one-man ministry to a team of 11 including 6 full-time and 5 part-time staff.  In 2009 they oversaw the opening of a new church and community centre on the existing site.  Previously John was a centre worker for British Youth for Christ in Sutton Coldfield.

 

Revd Hannah Colk

Hannah is the minister of Robert Hall Memorial Baptist Church, located on Leicester's Narborough Road, which is the UKs most diverse commercial street. Seeking to be a church which is strong at the core and blurred at the edges, RHMBC is a church with a huge heart and an even bigger mission.

 

Mrs Ellie Cox

Ellie grew up in rural Shropshire where she attended the local village church.  She came to know Christ aged 16 and after finishing college went on to serve on Soul Survivor’s Soul 61 gap year intern programme.  She subsequently studied at London School of Theology where she met her husband, Tom, a Baptist Minister.  Together they moved to Oadby Baptist Church in 2017 where Ellie is now a member.  She is currently the Executive Assistant to the Bishop of Leicester.  She is a keen rugby fan, being a season ticket holder at Leicester Tigers, enjoys long countryside walks and anything related to the royal family! 

 

Revd Sam Hackett

Sam is married to Esther and they have a beautiful daughter, Megan.  He is minister of Ruddington Baptist Church where he has been since finishing his studies at the South Wales Baptist College in 2014.  Sam is a pastor at heart; his mission to share God's love in word and action, to care for the people around him and to see others grow in faith and in serving God.  When Sam is not parenting or pastoring you will find him on a hockey pitch or honing his culinary skills in the kitchen.

 

Revd Martin Hills

Martin has a background in youth work and started ministry as a Youth Specialist Minister in April 2009 serving as part of a team ministry in Essex.  He moved to Oundle in 2016 and is currently serving as minister for Oundle Baptist Church which is about 11 miles outside Peterborough.  He is married to Carita and they have four children.  Martin is passionate to see the church come together as family, to show Jesus to others by connecting with and serving its local community.  Martin enjoys cycling, time away in his caravan and cricket, where he can occasionally be found on the pitch with his local team!

 

Pastor David Howe

David has been the Pastor of Heanor BC since 1995 having come to faith back in 1980 and being baptised at Clay Cross BC. David is passionate about racial justice as well as public issues in general and constantly seeks our Baptist voice to be heard in our wider world.  Locally, David has encouraged the fellowship to be fully involved in local issues and in recent years he has been heavily involved in the former Bishop of Derby’s campaign in raising awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking.

 

Revd Matt Jones

Matt is a former Baptist Minister currently working for a local authority in adult social care.  He is married to Sarah and has three grown or growing up sons and 2 dogs.  Matt is excited about seeing churches breaking the mould of inherited or assumed identity and trying new things in new ways.  He firmly believes this is necessary for the church to engage with the world in a changing society.  Matt is an active member of Westdale Lane Baptist Church in Nottingham and also moderator at Daybrook Baptist Church.

 

Mrs Kay McManus 

Kay is married to Andy and they have 4 children and 5 grandchildren.  Kay was a serving Police Officer for 30 years and retired 3 years ago.  She currently helps Andy lead Morton Baptist church in South Lincs.  They have been leading this church for 7 years and Kay loves doing God's work.  Kay has been a Christian all her life but only ‘born again’ for the past 16 years.  She loves Jesus and enjoys her work, especially the children and women’s side of her ministry.
