Dear Friends

The Gathering 2025

What a wonderful (if warm) day it was when more than 120 people from all over the Association gathered at Sutton Elms Baptist Church for a day of teaching, worship, prayer and friendship.  Our speaker, Cathy Madavan, was inspiring, the welcome from our hosts at Sutton Elms was amazing, and the worship band led us into God's presence.

New Directors for the EMBA

As part of the day, we elected new directors to the board of the Association.  We are grateful to them for being willing to serve the churches of the Association in this way.  They are Elaine Blundell, David Mellen, Jonathan Morley, Liz Shaw and Andy Warner.  We'll be sharing more information about them soon but please be praying for them as they come along to their first meetings and get stuck in to all that being a Director involves.  We are also pleased that Kay McManus has bee re-elected for a second term.

Are you having Baptisms?

Did you know that 187 baptisms in EMBA churches were reported in 2024 in the Baptists Together Annual Return. This is great news and we praise God for every person who was baptised.  We would love to hear from you if you have baptisms happening in your church - drop us an email at hello@embaptists.org.uk

Join in with research about women in leadership

Rev Beth Allison-Glenny, who comes from the East Midlands, is inviting Baptist women leaders to help her with her doctoral research by completing a short survey about their experience as leaders.  She writes: "You may recall that one of the requests from the recent Project Violet was to gather more information on the women we have in Baptist roles, so as to better understand where women find themselves in the structures."  Any woman in any leadership role is welcome to participate, not only ordained women.

Baptist Insurance are encouraging us to complete the National Churches survey.  It aims to help policymakers, the media and the public understand the extent of the challenges churches face.

If you work or volunteer at a church, your response will help build a clearer picture of the work you do.

The more churches that participate, the more impactful it will be. THE DEADLINE TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 13TH JULY

If you have any events happening at your church that might be of interest to the wider Association that you'd like us to include on our website, please get in touch with our Comms Lead Sarah Fegredo by email.

Job Vacancies

Details about vacancies in the EMBA and more widely can be found on the EMBA WEBSITE VACANCIES PAGE

Please have a look at your church's "spot" on the CHURCHES PAGE on our website and let us know if any contact info needs updating.  It would help people to find you if there was a photo of your building and your website and/or contact email address.  We know that the first contact many people have when looking for a church is their website so something that's easy to find helps.  We can also add your social media info.  Contact SARAH with any updates.

Please can we ask that if you are about to go on sabbatical, leave or holiday and want to pause the emails you receive from EMBA, please get in touch so that we can make the adjustments. We'd ask that you do not unsubscribe without speaking to us as this can cause problems with how the EMBA holds your information rather than just not receiving emails.

Please find the team's contact details here if you need to get in touch with anyone.

Blessings

EMBA Team
