The last couple of years have been very interesting at Stanground Baptist Church in Peterborough. The average congregation back then was about twenty. Then people started arriving. Folk just turned up, so that now the average would be about forty. Not large compared to some, but each person has brought something fresh to the church, which looks and feels very different. A recurring theme has been the sense that God had directed them to us, and has not finished with us.
At one time we did not know if we would have any children in junior church on any given Sunday. Now, up to nine are regular. This has brought a wonderful noise and vibrancy to our mornings.
As a mark of this change, a few weeks ago we held the first baptismal service for about a decade, when four amazing people gave testimony to the power of Jesus in their lives. At the same time, another four folk were also welcomed into membership. Amazing.
As you can imagine, this has given us new heart, and we are now looking with confidence for God to show us what’s next? We can only give thanks and praise to Him for all of this.
Please pray for us.
